Documentation/Using the platform

Dashboards

Arrange report tables, graphs, text, images and embedded pages into shared views for your whole portfolio or any single property.

All documentation pages

Dashboards arrange cards — tables, graphs, text, images and embedded pages — into a single view. Every dashboard is shared across your company: the portfolio dashboards everyone sees on the homepage, and a matching set for each individual property.

Viewing only

As a Viewer you can open and favorite the dashboards your team has published. Creating, editing and emailing dashboards needs an Editor or Administrator.

Templated dashboards

Your homepage opens on a row of templated dashboards: Overview, Leasing, Rent, Financials and Marketing, with more under the More menu. Templates are ordered Overview, Rent, Financials, Marketing by default; to reorder, put a number at the start of each dashboard's name and they sort numerically.

Managing dashboards

Open Manage dashboards

  1. From the homepage, open the More menu in the dashboard bar.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and select Manage dashboards.

From Manage dashboards you can open, edit or delete any dashboard. The row's action menu lets you favorite a dashboard, which pins it under Favorites for quick access; select it again to remove the favorite.

Creating a dashboard

Editors and Administrators

Creating dashboards needs the Editor or Administrator role.

Add a new dashboard

  1. On Manage dashboards, select Add new dashboard.
  2. In the Add dashboard modal, enter a name and, optionally, a description.
  3. Pick a category from the drop-down.
  4. Optionally set an access restriction so only users with a given permission can see the dashboard. Permissions are created in Manage permissions.
  5. Choose one of the three layout types described below.
  6. Select Add.

Choosing a layout

LayoutBest forTrade-off
NewPrinting and PDFRigid: row width and height cannot be changed
OldArranging freely on screenCards drag, drop and resize, which makes it poor for printing
Block noteMixing dynamic text, headings, columns and report blocksTakes more setup than the other two

Editing a dashboard

Edit a dashboard

  1. Open the dashboard and select Edit dashboard.
  2. Select the dashboard title to rename it.
  3. Select + Add card to add content (see below).
  4. On an Old-layout dashboard, drag cards to move them and drag a card's bottom-right corner to resize it.
  5. Use the menu at the top right of a card to Edit or Remove it.
  6. Select Save to keep your changes, or Cancel to leave edit mode without them.
Copy before you customize

Templated dashboards are best copied first: open the dashboard, select Copy dashboard, give the copy a name, and edit the copy.

Restoring an earlier version

In edit mode, the version history lists earlier versions of the dashboard with who saved each one and when. Select a version to restore the dashboard to exactly how it was at that point. This is the way to undo a change — yours or someone else's.

Adding cards

Select + Add card in edit mode and choose a card type. The options differ slightly between layout types.

CardWhat it shows
Graph from a reportA chart saved in a report. Only graphs on the report's first sheet are offered — see Graphs.
Table from a reportA report sheet as a table. Standard matches the report; Dynamic sorts by a column you choose, ascending or descending, showing a set number of rows; Fancy table is the styled format used by the Properties dashboard.
HTML reportAn Email Body / HTML sheet, rendered as a formatted card.
Text boxStatic text for this dashboard.
ImageAn uploaded image, or the current property's photo where one exists.
iFrameAnother web page shown inside the card. Enter the URL and a height (start with 50). Only works with pages that allow embedding.
Property noteA note about the property selected in the property picker. The card appears on this dashboard for every property; the note text is specific to each.

Block note dashboards

Block note dashboards are built from blocks, like a document. Type or pick from:

  • Text — paragraphs, headings 1–6, toggle headings, quotes, emoji
  • Lists — bullet, numbered, checklist and toggle lists
  • Layout — dividers, and two- or three-column sections
  • Media — image, video, audio, file, code block
  • Report blocks — report table, report graph, report HTML and iFrame

Adding a report to a block note dashboard

A report table block lists every report in your library. Give the block a title and choose standard, dynamic (sorted by a column you pick, ascending or descending) or fancy table. A report graph block offers any report with a graph; a report HTML block offers reports built with HTML sheets.

Property dashboards

Open Properties and select any property to see its own dashboards. Property dashboards are managed as one set: a change to a property dashboard applies to that dashboard for every property. The data changes with the property you pick; the layout does not.

Edit a property dashboard

  1. Go to Properties and select a property.
  2. In the property's dashboard bar, open More and select Manage dashboards.
  3. Open the dashboard, select Edit dashboard, make your changes and Save.

The Properties dashboard

The Properties dashboard — plural — is a roll-up across every property, with several tabs. It is itself a report built as a fancy table, so it can be edited like any report: add sheets, remove sheets, change columns.

Keeping a dashboard to yourself

All dashboards are shared across your company. To make one visible only to certain people, an Administrator creates a permission in Manage permissions, and an Editor or Administrator sets it as the dashboard's access restriction.

Deleting a dashboard

Delete a dashboard

  1. Open Manage dashboards (for a property dashboard, open it from the property's own More menu).
  2. Select the dashboard and the delete icon.
  3. Confirm with Delete.
Deleting a property dashboard removes it for every property

Because property dashboards are one shared set, deleting one removes it from every property.

Standard matches the report. Dynamic sorts by a column you choose, ascending or descending, and shows a set number of rows. Fancy table is the styled format used by the Properties dashboard.

How do I show a top-ten list?

Use a Dynamic table, sorted by the column you care about, showing ten rows.

Example use cases

Common questions

How do I show another web page on a dashboard?

Select + Add card, choose iFrame, and enter the page's URL and a height. Start with 50.

Why is my iframe blank?

The page doesn't allow embedding. Many sites block it.

Is this the same as embedding a dashboard elsewhere?

No. An iFrame card brings another page into Revolution RE. An embed link puts Revolution RE into another site.

Example use cases

  • A marketing manager shows a review-site page next to leasing numbers.
  • An asset manager shows a shared market report page on a dashboard.

Property dashboards

Using the platform / Dashboards / Property dashboards

Heads-up: Dashboard screens have been redesigned since this guide was recorded, so some steps may look different.

Common questions

How do I set up a property dashboard for the first time?

Copy a templated dashboard first, then edit the copy. Open Properties, select a property, and use More → Manage dashboards.

Will my changes apply to every property?

Yes. Property dashboards are one shared set. The layout is the same for every property; the data changes with the property.

Why copy the template first?

So the original template stays available if you want to start again.

Example use cases

  • An asset manager sets up the property overview every site team will use.
  • An analyst adds a renewals dashboard for all properties.

Using the platform / Dashboards / Property dashboards

Edit a property dashboard

  • An analyst reorders the cards on the property overview.

Using the platform / Dashboards / Property dashboards

Add a property note

Add a note card that holds different text for each property.

Example use cases

  • A property manager updates a renovation status note.
  • An asset manager corrects a note before an investor meeting.

Using the platform / Dashboards / Property dashboards

Delete the note from the property's dashboard. It clears that property's note only.

What's the difference between deleting a note and removing the card?

Deleting a note clears the text for one property. Removing the Property note card in edit mode takes it off the dashboard for every property.

Can I add a note back later?

Yes. Add a new note for the property. If you removed the card, add a Property note card again in edit mode.

Example use cases

  • A property manager removes a note that's no longer true.
  • An asset manager removes the note card from a dashboard.

Using the platform / Dashboards / Property dashboards

Will it be deleted for every property?

Yes. Property dashboards are one shared set.

Should I delete it or restrict it?

To hide it from some people only, set an access restriction instead.

Example use cases

  • An Administrator removes an outdated property dashboard.
  • An asset manager replaces an old dashboard with a new one.
